Educator
My journey in education started from leading a volunteer service trip and developing education programs to practicing culturally responsive teaching within informal education spaces. As a current Master of Education student at University of Washington, I am working on further developing my philosophy of education and a final project that reflects my interest in community-based education. Learn more about the ways I have dived into education below.

I decided to go back to school to gain more knowledge and training in education. I was drawn to the IslandWood residency and Master of Education at University of Washington because I wanted to learn best practices for developing educational programs that empower youth leadership and center community-based education.

Building Sustainable Partnerships
My understanding of community partnerships for environmental education comes from my previous work with the City of Houston Mayor's Office of Education in coordinating the Cities Connecting Children to Nature program. Here I learned the importance of collaborative action teams in increasing access to the benefits of nature for children and helped support initiatives that promote green and resilient schoolyards, parks activation, and sustainability career pathways for youth of color.
Civic and Arts Education
I enjoy developing and presenting workshops and panels for conferences and events that center youth leadership, art making, and environmental activism. These spaces are a platform for me to practice creating and delivering original lessons.

Leading Service Trips
Throughout my undergrad, I participated in volunteer service trips through the Alternative Spring Break Program that were focused on environmental advocacy. In my junior year, I led a trip reflecting on inequities in water access and the human right to clean water. These experiences helped me realize that I wanted to pursue a career that could address environmental justice issues.
