Celebrating Southeast Asian Americans

For Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (May) 2021, I collaborated with my classmate (and cabin-mate) June Pen to develop and present a two-part virtual workshop on Zoom for our graduate peers and colleagues. Our first workshop focused on thinking about ways to build lessons that honor Southeast Asian American history in our teaching. The second workshop was a demonstration of us modeling ways to engage learners with topics in environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and storytelling about family history through film, music, and children's books. Through a breakout and jigsaw discussion, we invited our cohort to reflect on what they learned about art and activism within Southeast Asian American communities.

See below for a couple of screenshots of content from the workshops!
